We have an exciting update! New to the Basis DSP, we are happy to introduce Creative Weighting! Throughout 2024, we had heard from several clients that this feature would help to make lives easier of both buyers and sellers. After working with our product team and through beta testing, this feature is now available in both Basis Platform and the Basis DSP. This release streamlines campaign management by eliminating the need for separate line items, enables messaging flexibility for seasonal strategies, and optimizes A/B testing by providing data-driven insights to enhance creative performance.

For some more information on how to use the feature, see below:

A creative’s assigned weight is divided by the total weight of all creatives in the same category to determine how frequently each one is served. For example, if you have two image ads that are 300×600 and give each of them a weight of 1, they will have an equal share of impressions:

  • Creative A = 1 / (1 + 1) = 50%
  • Creative B = 1 / (1 + 1) = 50%

If you want to serve Creative A twice as often as Creative B, you can assign it a weight of 2:

  • Creative A = 2 / (1 + 2) = 66.6%
  • Creative B = 1 / (1 + 2) = 33.3%
